Texas UIL sponsors four primary Journalism contests--Editorial Writing, Feature Writing, Headline Writing and News Writing. A newer Journalism contest that is still in the pilot stage, yet picking up momentum, is UIL Copy Editing. Each of these contests help budding high school communications students understand the nuances of different types of journalistic writing. The Texas UIL Journalism contest has become increasingly popular, and many contests winners have become professional journalists. Students compete at the District level, and the top three places advance to Regionals. The top three at Regionals then advance to the UIL State competition. Hexco offers study materials to help students and coaches master their "craft," and all of our UIL Journalism products have been authored by experienced, published writers. We are proud to bring you the best UIL Journalism practice tests on the market.
Don't forget that UIL offers additional journalism contests through its scholastic press organization, Interscholastic League Press Conference. ILPC offers its members yearbook, newspaper (both print and web-based), broadcast and documentary competitions. ILPC also sponsors an annual two-day spring convention and a four-day intensive summer workshop. Both are held at the University of Texas at Austin.
Just for fun:
