UIL Current Issues & Events - Practice Packets for 2023-24

UIL Current Issues and Events Practice Packets provide a practical and easy way to challenge and broaden your students' knowledge of current issues and events. CI&E Practice Packets are formatted to simulate real invitational tests and may be administered by an instructor in a group/team setting or sent home with students for individual practice.

Each packet includes:

6 Practice Tests

40 multiple choice questions per test
1 essay question per test

Grading Materials

Blank answer and essay response sheet

PACKET 1 VS. PACKET 2 - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Practice Packet 1, which is available in fall (at the beginning of the school year) is written over the summer months before; Practice Packet 2 is available in January (at the start of the spring semester). Practice Packet 2 is comprised of tests that were used at practice meets during the fall, whereas tests in Practice Packet 1 have never been used in invitational meets. You may pre-order Packet 2 in the fall!

TAPPS

The CI&E Practice Packets are also ideal for TAPPS CI&E study. Please note that the time allotted on TAPPS tests differs from UIL, and the point values on Lit Crit tests varies. See your competition guidelines for details.
