What is the etymology of etymology?

The word etymology comes from Middle English, which probably came from Middle French from Medieval Latin. From there, the word can be traced back to the Latin word, etymologia/-ae meaning "etymology" or "history of a word," and this comes from two Greek words, the word etymon meaning, "word’s meaning based on its origin" which was derived from etymos meaning "true" and the word logos meaning "word" or "speech."
