MEET our New PRACTICE PACKET AUTHOR JOHN OWEN

John Owen has spent 35 years teaching Computer Science and Algebra in Texas, guiding students to top honors in UIL, AP Computer Science, and national competitions. His students have achieved mastery-level scores on state tests, excelled in programming contests, and gone on to careers in software development and teaching. He has developed widely used resources such as Foundations of Computer Science for Teachers, WeTeach_CS for HS, and over 200 YouTube videos on coding and CS concepts. A former UIL State Computer Science Competition Chair, John has also taught Oracle Java courses, facilitated Code.org curriculum, and played a key role in increasing CS-certified teachers across Texas.

• Region/State Practice Packet for Computer Science contains a programming packet with 12 problems and one complete 40-question written exam, all similar to those that a contestant might find at either the Region or State UIL Computer Science contest. The programming problems range from quite simple to somewhat difficult to serve as excellent practice for those students who have qualified for the Region and State UIL Computer Science contests. The 12 programming problems come with student data, judges' data, judges' output, and coded solutions for each. The solutions contain extensive comments describing the solution. The written exam comes with an answer key that includes a thorough discussion of each correct answer.
