Our Team

Wondering who you're talking to in the office when you call us?  Well, here we are!

Linda Tarrant is the lady in charge at Hexco.  In addition to steering a group of "fun, powerful women," Linda initiates new product development and continues to take her spelling and computer products to the next level by working alongside her team on a daily basis. Prior to founding Hexco more than 28 years ago, Linda served as a Systems Engineer for IBM working on large mainframe computers; she has a Bachelors of Arts from UT Austin. Linda has served as the State Director for the UIL Computer Applications contest for 10+ years, and has volunteered as a pronouncer for North South Foundation spelling bees.  Linda is the proud mother of the three Spelling Sisters who designed some of Hexco's products.  She is an even prouder grandmother to two spelling granddaughters, and one spelling grandson.

huntley-web-bw.jpg Huntley Tarrant, a Harvard Business School graduate and V.P. of Mindbites, Inc. is the facilitator behind the development of Hexco's new Video Store and website. Huntley also conducts Hexco's Computer Applications Workshops with Linda Tarrant and serves as a primary editor and moderator for the UIL State Computer Applications contest. As the youngest "Spelling Sister," she attended the National Spelling Bee and began writing and working for Hexco at a very young age.  Today, Huntley continues to direct our team through strategic planning and growth as it relates to today's technology.

Nancy Barnard is Hexco’s Office Manager and a niece of Linda's. She owned and managed a small retail business with her husband, Bobby, for over 30 years. Nancy has also turned her hobby into a business by selling her custom gourd creations and decorative rustic wreaths through her own company, Autumn Valley Gourds. Nancy enjoys creating crafts, gardening, reading, and relaxing at the couple’s country home, accompanied by two rescued Weimaraner dogs, Billy and Lucy.

Noel Putnam is the friendly voice fielding the bulk of telephone inquiries and managing Hexco’s product fulfillment. Noel’s professional background ranges from asset management to organizational management making her interpersonal skills and attention to detail unsurpassed. With a Bachelors of Arts in English, Hexco utilizes Noel’s literary expertise in editing and product development. Noel currently serves as a Trustee on our local School Board. She also enjoys spending time with her daughter, Madelyn (10). Noel is an avid reader and enjoys being outdoors, kayaking, taking ridiculous nature videos, and talking (a lot).

Keisha Bedwell is the director of Hexco's National History Bee personal coaching program and serves as an in-house researcher, writer, and editor specializing in social studies and writing-related contests. She holds a B.A. in both Psychology and History from Schreiner University and is a veteran tutor and writing coach. She enjoys writing, reading, yoga, traveling, and spending time at the Guadalupe River with her Australian Shepherd, Indie.

Jennifer Crandall's primary responsibility at Hexco is marketing; she brings hands-on experience as an entrepreneurial consultant for businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada, which includes Fortune 500 Companies such as Corning Inc., Eastman Kodak, and Pepsi. Jennifer’s portfolio is comprised of print and web design, demographic research, video production, business marketing plans, and published writings. She holds a Bachelor’s in Business and is married to Dr. Donald Crandall, Professor of Music at Schreiner University. She enjoys oil painting, writing, graphic design, and cooking.

Shannon Ament is part of Hexco's graphic design team and assists in editing. She holds a B.A. in Graphic Design with a background in business management, non-profits, and retail design. She is happily married with two children, a daughter who is attending Texas State (although in her mind, it's Hogwarts) and a son that is soon to follow. A lover of history, travel, food, and music, Shannon will be out of town on an adventure whenever she gets the chance. She is an enthusiastic reef aquarist who enjoys reading, cooking, kayaking, and most of all, family and friends.

Beth Mader is a writer, researcher, and editor for Hexco. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Schreiner University along with copyediting and tutoring experience. Aside from her passion for reading and writing, she loves horses and taking trail rides whenever she gets the chance. Originally from the Midwest, she takes every opportunity to get outside and enjoy the warm Texas weather.

ryanament-hexcoacademic.jpg Ryan Ament works part-time for Hexco as a production facilitator. She is majoring in biology and minoring in communications at Texas State University where she enjoys voicing her opinions and riding a broomstick for the university quidditch team. A Harry Potter enthusiast (obviously) and lover of animals, Ryan's other interests include reading, art, theatre, costume design, and blogging.

Miguel Macalindong is an intern for Hexco. During his high school career, he competed in UIL Social Studies under the tutelage of his inspiring coach. With the help of the useful Hexco notes and practice tests, he was the first contestant in his high school to qualify for the UIL State meet and finish as a State medalist. He attends Texas A&M International University where he is majoring in biology and minoring in geography. He likes to read books on ornithology, ichthyology, and languages.

Maggie Nix is one of Hexco’s primary editors for the UIL Computer Applications contest. She holds a Management Information Systems B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin. Maggie competed in the Computer Applications contest while in high school and was the state champion twice. Maggie’s experience, passion, and attention to detail truly make her an excellent addition to our team.

Cheska is our 7-year-old mascot and has full run of the office. When she's not diligently alerting us to the arrival of delivery-folk and other visitors, she can typically be found soaking up some sun in the gardens around the office or napping next to Linda's desk. She's a connoisseur of biscuits, always the first to volunteer to 'wash' our dishes, and one of the sweetest canines around.
