Why are Vocabulary and Writing Skills Important?
When the education level among people is the same, employers and schools must find some way to distinguish among the candidates applying for the position or scholorship, etc. One way they do this is by judging communication skills. Does the person speak and write well? Is something "really great" or "really good," versus "substantial" or "superb"? Are ideas clearly formed and described? Is there sound support for the position presented?
Whether spoken or written, a solid vocabulary is key to basic communication. It can set an individual apart from the crowd, and since much of today's communication takes place via the internet, the abilty to write well is also important.
